Hitchhiking Across America using Tech and Social Media: Q&A with “Where’s Woncho”
Hitchhiking Across America using Tech and Social Media
Back in college, I occasionally ran into a shirtless Asian man who rode bicycles and would high-five strangers across campus. His name was Woncho. A not-so ordinary man, he’s a pretty remarkable individual.
We discuss his impulsive trekking across North America and Canada. Even though traveling with strangers is delightful, Woncho doesn’t stray from describing his daily struggles. There is more that goes into this hitchhiking thing than I initially expected. Woncho integrates social media and technology into his travels whether it’s to ask for rides or to search for places to sleep. Outsiders will view his social experiment as either brave or crazy because it comes with much risk-taking. Although, Woncho could care less about what others have to think and will do as he pleases.
Eco Friendly Home Decor: Potigy (Video)
Potigy is a brand that is beautifully crafting eco friendly home decor. They achieve environmental friendliness by collecting paper and plastics cleaned up from around Austin. These materials are then up-cycled into unique, modern, and attractive decor for the home and garden.
Catching up with the minds behind the brand was inspiring. Philip and Lucas share the compelling story behind Potigy and what it means to create with social responsibility and sustainability.
Local Bands for Hire: Solstice Live
Local Bands for Hire: Solstice Live
Matt Ford is the sort of guy that you see at a show and signal a head nod at with a mutual understanding that it’s going to be a great night for live music. You wouldn’t have guessed that he organized the entire show and is CEO of Solstice Live, a web platform for music that services venues and local bands for hire. While speaking to Matt, I found that he was easy-going and free spirited as he didn’t mind having a conversation without shoes on. We discussed his roles as a company owner, boyfriend, father, musician, athlete, and businessman. Whether barefooted or not, Matt is just a guy who wants to connect everyone through live music and huge dance parties. We should probably thank him for that!
Redbull Threestyle 2015: DJ Buck Rodgers (Video)
Watch DJ Buck Rodgers as he takes us into Dub Academy Austin to perform a live remix and talk about qualifying for Redbull Threestyle 2015.
This is part of a series that we film to showcase the lives and stories of those who custom print shirts with us at Oh Boy! It’s more than just slapping some ink on t shirts. There are great stories behind why the shirts are printing in the first place and of the people who wear them.
This video spotlights Austin’s own DJ Buck Rodgers. Austin is a place of much talent and the cream always rises to the top. We were first introduced to Jordan when he called the shop to ask about some tees. He needed them quick, just in time for his Redbull Threestyle 2015 qualifier in New Orleans. He took New Orleans and has since moved on to the next round. The following Threestyle qualifier will be in Phoenix where he will compete on April 2nd.

10 Tips for Success
Spoken Word Poetry and Life as a Creative in Austin (Video)
Hanging out with Montsho was an experience in itself. Unbeknownst to him, he gives me a refreshing perspective on life and the world of spoken word poetry. With a magnifying demeanor, he carries a strong, resilient presence. Montsho attracts a certain amount of positive energy wherever he goes. Standing next to me, he is three times my size and one of the kindest souls that you will meet in this lifetime.
Upon my arrival, I wasn’t surprised to catch Montsho peacefully sipping hot tea and meditating in his backyard. He is a man of few words but can impact others with whatever he needs to say when the moment is right. Montsho is a great inspiration and has a unique ability to bring people together. He achieves this with creativity and eloquence through poetry. We live in a bustling and complicated world, we should take inspiration from this man. He simply sees life as a conscious experience and less complicated than most think it should be.

I met Peter Longno through a social media application where I was browsing #Austin hashtags. I came across his account and in an instant, felt drawn to his work. I was curious how he makes every one of his photos so darn EPIC!
